Bezzera Duo DE/MN espresso machine with dual boiler and PID temperature control system
The Bezzera Duo DE combines professional technology with digital controls and a touch display. Bezzera's best dual-circuit portafilter system features elegant chrome-plated sides, an LED-illuminated logo on the back panel, and professional technology for superior convenience and the best results in the cup. The most important feature is the dual boiler technology, which is otherwise only found in the highest-quality professional commercial coffee machines. The Bezzera Duo DE sets new standards in convenience, temperature, and pressure stability. A perfect espresso is achieved thanks to the digital controls for setting the various brewing parameters, including the pre-infusion feature common in the professional sector. The Bezzera Duo DE is a very powerful single-group portafilter espresso machine for lovers of Italian espresso and coffee specialties in offices, small restaurants, or at home when several people want to enjoy a "real" espresso with or without creamy milk foam.
Bezzera Duo – dual boiler in chrome
The "Double" stands for dual boiler. Hot water preparation for espresso and steam generation for milk frothing take place in two separate boilers. This ensures maximum temperature and pressure stability, even with high usage frequency. The "Duo" also refers to the housing design, with its high-quality chrome-plated side panels. This makes the Bezzera Duo a gleaming gem, while its sophisticated appearance is a showcase for its professional copper and stainless steel interior.
Programmable cup sizes
The DE version of the Bezzera Duo features electronic dosing controls with four buttons and individually programmable cup sizes. This allows even inexperienced users to easily and conveniently prepare a first-class espresso. When combined with a good espresso grinder and an automatic tamper (the mechanical compaction of the coffee grounds in the portafilter), anyone can instantly and intuitively obtain a great espresso from the Bezzera Duo DE.
Fast heating with the Bezzera brewing group
The BZ brewing group is a genuine Bezzera in-house development and has proven itself extremely successful in various Bezzera series. Unlike the legendary E61 brewing group, the BZ brewing group is not heated by the boiler water, but by a separate heater within the brewing group itself. This makes the BZ brewing group very temperature-stable. The group cannot overheat during extended standby periods, nor can it cool down too much during heavy use. The additional heater also ensures that the required operating temperature is reached very quickly. After switching on, the Bezzera Duo DE is fully operational in approximately 10 minutes. The integrated digital temperature control system (PID) also ensures an optimal brewing temperature, which can be adjusted to the type of coffee used.
Adjustable rotary pump
The Bezzera team designed the entire internals of the Bezzera Duo DE for professional use. In addition to dual boiler technology, an extremely powerful, durable, and adjustable rotary pump ensures independence in the fresh water supply. This allows the Bezzera Duo to be supplied either via a water tank or, optionally, via a fixed water connection. Rotary pumps are significantly quieter in operation than vibration pumps, while simultaneously offering higher and more stable pressure performance. The Bezzera Duo DE also offers externally accessible pump pressure adjustment.
What is the difference between the Bezzera DE and PM (MN) versions?
DE stands for the version with dosing electronics, allowing for four programmable cup sizes, and an electrically heated BZ brewing group, also controlled by a thermal probe. MN stands for "Manuale" at Bezzera and means that the brewing is controlled via a switch, push button, or lever. The user decides whether to start and stop the brewing. A highly experienced barista can manually control the extraction and thus influence the taste experience in the cup. Using only one espresso bean and the classic espresso as standard, the DE version with automatic portion control ensures absolutely consistent results.
How does the Bezzera DUO differ from the Bezzera Matrix?
The Bezzera DUO differs primarily in its housing shape. The Matrix espresso machine features transparent side panels with RGB LEDs that can illuminate in adjustable colors. This makes it particularly attractive in modern kitchens, where the portafilter serves as a focal point and creates a special accent. The Bezzera Duo, in contrast, is a classic portafilter espresso machine with beautifully crafted stainless steel side panels.

With these professional options, the Bezzera Duo DE comes very close to the performance of large commercial coffee machines. Tradition and convenience are at the highest level here .
Luxury for the senses
The Bezzera Duo DE offers control and adjustment options that will delight both the ambitious barista and the novice coffee lover. Thanks to the traditional portafilter brewing unit, every coffee preparation is a magical experience , from the grinding sound of the grinder, the smooth screwing of the portafilter, the quiet hum of the pump, the aroma of the finished coffee, to the slurping sound of the milk being frothed. Every coffee thus becomes a luxury for the senses .
Character and format through beautiful wooden applications
Bezzera has not only designed the interior to the highest standards, but has also reimagined the machine's design . For example, the logo on the back is illuminated by LEDs, ensuring the Bezzera Duo DE always stands out. In addition to the cool, technical look in chrome and stainless steel, Bezzera uses beautiful wooden appliqués on the handles and tilting valves to add character and style. The wood is truly warm and pleasant to the touch, making coffee preparation even more emotional and enjoyable —you'll already be looking forward to your next coffee break. Furthermore, the individual wooden appliqués convey the sustainability and elegant quality of the Bezzera Duo DE—simply a "bella macchina" inside and out!
Craftsmanship & perfection from the Milanese manufactory
Bezzera is a family business that has been manufacturing high-quality, professional espresso machines since 1901. To ensure the proven high quality, all of the necessary parts have been manufactured in-house in the Milanese factory for generations. No other espresso machine manufacturer has such a vertical range of manufacture, which is also combined with great craftsmanship . For example, all of the metal sheets are flanged at the edges to create rounded edges. The Bezzera DUO DE PID impresses with an elegant housing made of chrome-plated ANSI 304 stainless steel, with two boilers and copper pipes, professional tilt valves for perfect milk frothing / hot water dispensing and the digital PID temperature control system as well as the separately heated BZ brewing group. The high level of vertical integration in the Bezerra espresso machine factory also ensures a long-term secure supply of spare parts, so that repairs are guaranteed even after many years of use.
Dual boiler or dual-circuit portafilter
A temperature of around 90°-94° is required for brewing coffee, and around 110°-130° for frothing milk. Dual boiler espresso machines use two separate boilers, one for the brewing circuit and one for the steam circuit. This technology is complex and is mainly found in the professional sector. In machines with one boiler, like most dual boiler espresso machines, the fresh water for the espresso is heated in the hotter steam boiler using a system with a heat exchanger. The ideal temperature of the brewing water is then determined by the run-time and the ambient temperature . If the machine is left on standby for a long time, the water will be hotter than 94°C, and the brewing group will overheat. Before the next brewing process, the brewing group must be cooled down with a targeted cooling flush, i.e. an empty brew, in order to reduce the water temperature somewhat. With two or more consecutive brews, however, the target temperature drops more quickly, and the brewing group temperature is then too low. The dual boiler system completely compensates for these relatively large temperature fluctuations. The smaller boiler delivers the desired brewing temperature for espresso. The second, larger boiler generates steam and hot water for tea. Even with multiple brews in a row or simultaneously, steam and espresso are prepared more efficiently thanks to dual boiler technology.
These two separate boilers for brewing water and steam open up entirely new possibilities for machine capacity and control. Dual boiler technology allows for simultaneous espresso and steam extraction with maximum pressure and temperature stability —especially when brewing multiple times in succession. Furthermore, the pressure and temperature of each boiler can be individually adjusted. For ambitious baristas, this means working like a pro. For offices, where ten cups are brewed in a row in the morning, this means consistent quality every time. This also applies to small restaurants, where larger machines would otherwise be required to achieve comparable cup quality.
Hardwater causes heavy deposits to build up, particularly in hot areas like the two boilers, pipes, and various valves. This will sooner or later lead to malfunctions, for example with the boiler level contacts, and thus to malfunctions. Descaling is not easy with such systems! Since fresh water is constantly being added, the boilers become contaminated with descaler and form residues that do not belong in the coffee. A water filter system should therefore be installed upstream of the machine; this filters out most unwanted micro-pollutants. These professional systems do not filter out all limescale. A really good-tasting espresso needs some limescale in the water. Water that is too "soft" prevents limescale buildup, but results in a lack of flavor. We recommend a water filter system and at least an annual inspection and professional cleaning, which also includes replacing worn parts such as showers and seals.
